“Um requiem português” and its melodies: the time, the daydreaming and the vastness

Abstract

This study intends to analyze Um requiem português, written by Mafalda Ivo Cruz, that reveals the different periods of a family marked by political persecution and violence. The construction of the narrative’s emphasis is on musicality, the different narrators voices, the game time and poetic images. The analysis is based on the theories of Gérard Genette, Iury Lotman and Gaston Bachelard.
