Abstract

“A inaudita guerra da Avenida Gago Coutinho”, by the portuguese writer Mário de Carvalho, can be read as one representative contemporaneous aspect of new fantastic discourses that, using the strategies of narrative construction that are uphold in the uncommon manifestations, is related to the historiographical metafiction, questioning the oficial historical registers and denuding the values of a chaotic society, that lives in crisis, because the rational and logical certainties, solid and consistent matter of real-naturalistic literary sistem, has lost its status quo. Thereby, this contemporaneous author revisits the past and actualizes the present, intending to the future
