This text presents a discussion about the Scholastic Cartography and the use of cartographic resources in the process of teaching-apprenticeship of geographic concepts and themes, in the extent of initial years of Basic Education. It is a clipping of a research accomplished in three public schools located in the Queimadinha District, in Feira de Santana City – Bahia, in the year 2010, whose purpose was to analyse the way as six teachers utilize the cartographic resources to teach curricular contents of Geography. For the collecting of data semi- structured observations and interviews were accomplished and questionaries were utilized as methodological techniques. This study enabled to contemplate a reflection about the know-how of teachers about the concepts of Cartography and the use of cartographic resources in the extent of scholastic practices. It is possible to infer that the reported teachers presented difficulties on approaching the contents of Cartography in the teaching of Geography in the classroom space. Such difficulties are resulting from the professional formation, with implications in the teaching and apprenticeship process.Downloads
