This paper presents a characterization of the riparian forest of Jacaquá stream, Alegrete. The Jacaquá stream, located in the eastern part of the city of Alegrete, in the 2nd District of step New, is a tributary on the left bank of Ibicuí river, and the vegetation of the watershed under study stands out for two distinct formations: the country and forest. For the elaboration of geographic location map, the TrackMaker Professional GPS Software and Corel Draw X6 were used, the cartographic base vector of the RS and satellite images. The floristic survey of qualitative nature was developed, based on the traversal methodology, ended the samples from the stabilization of the "collector curve" the collection and follow-up time was extended for one year. The floristic samples collected revealed that this forest is mainly characterized by species such as Lithraea molleoides (Vell.) Engl., Syagrus romanzoffiana (Cham.) Glassman., Nectandra megapotamica (Spreng.) Mez, Symplocos uniflora (Pohl) Benth., Eugenia uniflora L., among others. This work results in a significant subsidy for activities related to environmental management and education in the municipality and region, because in general the population is unaware of the existing native plant species, even if they constitute one of the main elements of the biota to be considered.
