Abstract

This work analyzes two cases of data collection using digital methods. The first focuses on using Netvizz, Nvivo and Gephi to work with data from Facebook, YouTube and TwitCasting; and the second, using a scraper bot, Microsoft Excel and Tag Cloud Generator to explore data from the Google News platform. The experiences demonstrate that the use of digital methods in research in communication presents great informational wealth and possibilities of analytical deepening that justify its use, despite the weaknesses presented and the necessary care for collection and analysis.
