Abstract

The speech analysis of presenter José Luiz Datena, of Brasil Urgente, a Rede Bandeirantes TV show, is the focus of this research. By utilizing the methodological support of the french Speech Analysis, we verify the main perceptible senses in Datena's speech which evidence the way by which he caracterizes authority figures, police and the Justice system. We analyse an edition of the show that aired in May 2006.

Michele Negrini

PhD student in Communication at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Journalist from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and bachelor in Information Systems from the Franciscan University Center (UNIFRA), Master in Communication and Information from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Professor of the journalism course at the Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA).
