This work aims to reflect on the approximations between theater and cinema, in the light of the work of Pina Bausch, more specifically of the film The complaint of an empress (1990), directed by the German choreographer and playwright. In this sense, he proposes a post-dramatic contemplation, in the terms of Lehmann (2007), in dialogue with Rancière (2012, 2015) as an analytical key to account for the crossings between theater and cinema that are juxtaposed in the work in question, having the regret as an aesthetic component to express a kind of crisis / rearrangement of the representations that haunted cinema and theater from the second half of the twentieth century, revealing the malaise and uneasiness of the subjects of modernity.
