The objective of this article is to present a characterization of the concepts and definitions of langue and language, based on Noam Chomsky (1978, 1997), Émile Benveniste (1995) and William Labov (2008). To do so, a descriptive-contrastive analysis of these notions was made with the Saussurian langue (1973). As the studies of langue and language are marked by the heterogeneous character that characterizes the linguistic phenomena, elementary conceptions like these (of langue and language) are peculiar in each field of Linguistics, that is, in the framework of generative, enunciation or sociolinguistic theory, hence evidencing the richness and fecundity of this area of linguistic studies.Downloads
