O ensino de língua portuguesa como língua adicional: uma experiência com unidades didáticas

Since 2014, Taquari Valley has received a great number of immigrants from several countries, such as Haiti, Senegal, Bangladesh, etc. Thus, there is a necessity to integrate these citizens – mostly literate adults, into the local community, through the provision of classes of Portuguese as an Additional Language. This paper intends to present a teaching material produced by teachers and students who integrate the Extension Project Veredas da Linguagem of the University of Vale do Taquari – UNIVATES. The material is divided into didactic units, which maintain a thematic, but follow a didactic course defined and distributed into sections that involve the study of the language in use and grammar. The material design stems not only from the need to use authentic material that is linked to the context of the region where immigrants enter, but also from the need to facilitate the work of volunteers who teach these classes weekly. It should be emphasized that the elaboration of the units was based on the conception of language as a social practice, based on themes that aim to contribute to the insertion of these students in society. It is noticed that the work with didactic units has generated positive results, since it allows the students to have in hand the complete didactic unit, which facilitates the dynamics of the classes, allowing the visualization of all the activities: those already accomplished and those that will still be developed. In addition, it facilitates the work of the teacher, who can continue the lessons, establishing resumes of the content already seen, and promoting extra activities that can enrich the learning.Downloads
