Abstract

The purpose of this work is a brief reflection that deals with the relationship between history and poetry, with the objective of demonstrating how lyric poetry is engaged in historical events, that is, how lyrical poetry is also an important instrument of social measurement, despite being considered, not infrequently, the very particular and singular apprehension of a subject in the face of events, liable, therefore, to not be considered as a representation of social reality. To develop the idea of inscribing historical and social events in the poems, I resort mainly to the ideas of Theodor Adorno, published in his 1957 essay, “Palestra sobre lírica e Sociedade”, as well as other poets and literary critics.
