K. Relato de uma busca, by Bernardo Kucinski: The agony and reliving the trauma in Brazilian literature

Abstract

In this article, a hermeneutic analysis will be made of the short story “As cartas à destinatária inexistente” which is part of the novel K. Relato de uma busca, by Bernardo Kucinski. We tried to highlight the constant remembrance of the trauma and, in a general panorama, the agonizing state of a father's search for his daughter, politically missing during the Brazilian military dictatorship. In this sense, the background is the intersection of social aspects of an oppressive regime in Brazil, as well as the memory generated by the trauma and the social oblivion of this dictatorial period. Also, we sought to highlight the aesthetics of the novel used by the author to emphasize the agonizing subject in his traumatic aspect. For the undertaken analysis will be used as theoretical foundation: Márcio Seligmann, Enrique Padrós and Nelly Richard.
