Abstract

Based on a bibliographic approach of research the article has established a link between the characteristics highlighted by Mills and Kendall (2016) in their study about mental health problems in imprisoned people and the poems of Miguel Hernández’s last book named Cancionero y romancero de ausencias. The major intention of the study is to demonstrate that all the health problems mentioned by the authors, concerning to the condition of imprisoned people, are present in the poems itself. Furthermore, the article wants to contribute to the discussion and assessment of Hernández’s work in Brazilian critique literary context as well as in Portuguese academic research.
