Abstract

The following text consists in a Brazilian Portuguese translation of the article“Algorithmic Catastrophe — The Revengence of Contingency”, written by the Chinese philosopher Yuk Hui (2015), professor in the City University of Hong Kong, responsible for such concepts as “technodiversity” and “cosmotechnics” and author of such books as The Question Concerning Technology in China (2016) andRecursivity and Contingency (2019). This translation was generously authorized by the author under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license, and it was originally a part of Parrhesia special edition on the French philosopher Bernard Stiegler (in memoriam), ex-advisor for the author's PhD and a key figure in the composition of this text.
