The article analyzes four films produced in Brazil between the decades of 1990 and 2010, focusing on human displacement between Brazil and other countries. The main concern is how films produce a way of looking at alterities regarding the tensions and conflicts of life in the diaspora. The analysis highlights both the transnational aspects and the local specificities in relation to the fictional narratives and the general themes that they mobilize. The intended contribution is to approach the experience of our audiovisual culture in order to inquire about our modes of spectacularization of the self-image created about us and the one produced concerning the others.
