Bibliographical essay on the contributions of sociology of culture and communication for media studies. The aim is to bring together the approaches that are so dispersed and sprayed in the social literature, with the aim of contributing to the systematic teaching of the main perspectives, with their basic arguments and counterpoints critics. Highlights the legacy of functionalist analysis and critical formulations of the Frankfurt School, both aimed at the thematization of the functions of ideological and sociopolitical effects produced in shaping public opinion by media messages. Discusses the relevance of these studies in the current scenario of centrality, and network configuration ubiquity of new media.Downloads
