Experience report at Veiling Holambra: The most complete and modern flower and plant cooperative in Brazil

Abstract

This work aims to report the experience of the OBSCOOP/USP Study Group's technical visit to the Veiling Holambra Cooperative (CVH), learning more about the history of CVH, its commercial and logistics center, as well as making on-site observations of the cooperative's processes, from the arrival of the plants and flowers brought by the cooperative members to their destination for the final consumer, legal entity. Methodologically, this is a descriptive, qualitative study, characterized as an experience report, carried out in April 2022. The results include four stages: CVH's institutional presentation; a visit to the flower and plant stock area; a visit to the reverse auction sales system, a modern marketing option; and a visit to the client's distribution center. For most of the OBSCOOP/USP members, this was their first opportunity to get to know a flower and plant cooperative, which enabled them to exchange experiences and construction of knowledge.

Flávia Zancan, Universidade de São Paulo

Doutoranda em Controladoria e Contabilidade pela Faculdade de Economia, Administração e Contabilidade de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo FEA-RP/USP. Mestra em Administração pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSM. Graduada em Ciências Contábeis pela UFSM, com diploma de mérito aluna-destaque fornecido pelo Conselho Regional de Contabilidade do Rio Grande do Sul (CRC/RS), e licenciada no Programa Especial de Graduação de Formação de Professores para a Educação Profissional pela mesma instituição. Pesquisadora do Observatório de Cooperativas (OBSCOOP/USP), voltado as cooperativas dos ramos crédito e agropecuário. Desenvolve estudos com temas relacionados ao cooperativismo e as finanças corporativas, sobretudo estrutura de capital.

Davi Rogério de Moura Costa, Universidade de São Paulo

Graduado em Engenharia Agronômica pela Escola Superior de Agricultura ´Luiz de Queiroz´ (1998), Mestre em Economia Aplicada pela mesma Escola em 2005, obtive meu Doutorado em Economia na Escola de Economia de São Paulo da Fundação Getúlio Vargas (EESP/FGV) em 2010 e defendi minha tese de Livre Docência em 2023 pela Faculdade de Economia, Administração e Contabilidade de Ribeirão Preto (FEARP/USP). Local, onde atuo como Professor Associado na FEARP/USP e Coordeno o Grupo de Pesquisa e Extensão - Observatório do Cooperativismo (Obscoop). Minhas experiências estão sendo consolidadas na área de Economia de Empresas com ênfase nos Temas de Governança e Gestão. Por exemplo, me dedico a aplicar os conceitos da Teoria da Informação e Contratos Incompletos para entender os processos de gestão, cooperação e competição entre Cooperativas Agropecuárias e de Crédito no Brasil.
