Abstract

Objectives: Develop and validate an application for healthcare professionals on the use of Personal Protective Equipment and preventive measures for facial skin injuries during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out using the health sciences databases MEDLINE, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Cochrane Library. The evaluation of the application’s content was carried out by 41 professionals (doctors, nurses, dentist, physiotherapists and pharmacists), here called judges. The evaluation instrument was sent to the judges by email and WhatsApp after approval by the Ethics and Research Committee. To validate the application content, the Delphi technique was used. For statistical analysis, the Content Validity Index was used. Results: In the first evaluation of the application, there was no agreement between the judges, with its content being evaluated from inadequate to completely adequate. After making the corrections requested by the judges, the application was resent for a second evaluation, with its content being re-evaluated between adequate and completely adequate. Regarding the general content index, in the first evaluation it was 0.980 and in the second evaluation it was 0.997. Conclusion: The “Simplification EPI” application was validated by consensus by the panel of judges in the second evaluation, indicating that it can be used to prevent skin injuries caused by the use of PPE and as an educational resource on the correct use of PPE.
