Humanization in hospital care: perceptions of family caregivers

This study aimed to describe family caregivers perception on nursing care given to the hospitalized patients. The following research had a qualitative approach which subjects were family companions of patients hospitalized in a medical and surgical clinic of a public hospital in the countryside of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview. Data analysis happened through theme analysis, resulting in the category: soft technologies in the hospital care and two sub-themes: reception in care setting and means of communication as a care form. The data showed predominance of soft technologies in the care given by the nursing team; however, some situations portray technical and mechanical actions in nursing interventions.
