Abstract

Sustainability values the biodiversity and diversification of production in the same agricultural area, which allows the optimization of productive space, with lower environmental impacts, adapting to the climatic conditions of the region and the interests of the farmer himself. In this work, we sought to survey the research carried out in Rio Grande do Sul to verify the potential of implementing the diversification of production in small farms. For this purpose, articles were searched in the Dialnet database that discuss the benefits of diversification of production and its potentialities. Finally, a sustainable proposal is presented from the context of the “Freedom in the future” agrarian reform settlement in Santana do Livramento, Rio Grande do Sul. This proposal was elaborated based on the Methodology of Trees, which starts from the identification of causes and consequences of conflicts to plan solutions that are feasible by the community itself.

Professora Adjunta na Universidade Federal do Pampa, Campus Dom Pedrito/RS. Possui Pós-doutorado em Educação em Ciências: Química da Vida e Saúde pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (2016, bolsista PNPD/CAPES). Possui Doutorado em Educação em Ciências: Química da Vida e Saúde (2015, bolsista da CAPES), mestrado em Educação Ambiental (2004) e graduação em Oceanologia (2000), todos pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG. Licenciada em Pedagogia (2015) pela Universidade Norte do Paraná - UNOPAR. Possui graduação em História-Bacharelado pela Fundação Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (2004); Especialização em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal de Pelotas (2006); Mestrado em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2009); Doutorado em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2013). Possui Pós-Doutorado em Desenvolvimento Rural pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2013). Atuou por 4 anos como docente no Campus Itaqui da Unipampa, nos cursos de Bacharelado Interdisciplinar em Ciência e Tecnologia, Nutrição, Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos e Engenharia Cartográfica e de Agrimensura. Atualmente, está vinculado ao Campus Dom Pedrito da Unipampa, atuando no curso de Licenciatura em Educação no Campo. Tem como principais temas de pesquisa as políticas públicas, a agricultura familiar, o desenvolvimento rural, a juventude e a educação no campo.

Ethical guidelines for journal publication

The REMOA is committed to ensuring ethics in publication and quality of articles. 
Conformance to standards of ethical behavior is therefore expected of all parties involved: Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and the Publisher.

Authors: Authors should present an objective discussion of the significance of research work as well as sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the experiments. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Editors: Editors should evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit.
