Benchmarking in education: a literature review

This article aims to review productions related to the use of Benchmarking in Education, with a review of 40 productions, synthesizing quantitative elements and describing qualitative aspects, such as research objects and evaluation instruments or methods. Initially, the types of Benchmarking and the use of data envelopment analysis are presented. Next, a quantitative synthesis of the productions is presented, with distribution by year, language, types of production and level of education. The predominance of studies on higher education is noted. In the qualitative analysis, objectives are classified, with exemplification. In the conclusions, the importance of deepening studies on Benchmarking is discussed, in a search for improvements to education in Brazil.
