Philosophical formation of adolescents in high school: stoicism and contemporary cross-cutting themes

Abstract

The present article aims to connect the philosophical principles of Stoicism with contemporary transdisciplinary themes, analyzing how Stoic values such as virtue, emotional resilience, and the ethics of duty can contribute to a critical and reflective approach to issues like ethics, health, citizenship, cultural diversity, sustainability, and interpersonal relationships within the context of education and modern society. This objective emphasizes the idea of linking Stoic philosophical thought to the challenges and themes that permeate contemporary life and the transdisciplinary themes proposed in the National Common Curricular Orientations. Through bibliographic research grounded in scholars from the fields of education and philosophy, relevant references were gathered and selected. Furthermore, this work addresses literary works inspired by the daily practice of the Stoic way of life. As a conclusion to this study, the goal is to design a didactic approach to applying the topic, enabling high school students to internalize Stoic philosophy not merely as theoretical knowledge but as a practical tool to lead a balanced and resilient life.
