Abstract

This article examines Beco do Rosário (2015) by Ana Luiza Koehler and Indivisível: uma história de liberdade (2017) by Marília Marz through the decolonizing gaze from which both authors explore the relationship between the city and comics as a process of mutual configuration. It seeks to show how both graphic narratives develop methodological practices that engage with urban materiality and the symbolic layers inscribed in the city center. In doing so, they propose alternative ways of conceiving this urban landscape without erasing the memories that have been historically marginalized within it. The analysis also focuses on the formal operations through which the authors build layers of meaning that go beyond the narrative framework and propose alternative ways of approaching the past and present.
