Literature in the development of the child and the youth

This article analyses the role literature plays in the development of the child and the youth. The author examines the autobiographical novel Infância, by Graciliano Ramos, based on historical and biographical data, as they point to historical and cultural aspects throughout this process. The collected data refer to the transition between the XIX to the XX century (1892 – 1906), in the interior state of Alagoas (Brazil). It was possible to extract contributions from them to the development of the child and the youth in the contemporay Brazilian society.Downloads
