Leo Strauss e o chamado de Husserl à “filosofia como ciência rigorosa”

Em 1922, Leo Strauss frequentou os cursos de Edmund Husserl sobre teoria do conhecimento, ministrados na Universidade de Freiburg, acontecimento decisivo para que o jovem Strauss abandonasse o neokantianismo predominante no ambiente intelectual desse período na Alemanha. Essa experiência é relatada por Strauss em seu ensaio de maturidade publicado em 1971, o que mostra que aquele contato com Husserl marcou profundamente sua forma de pensar os problemas da contemporaneidade. Neste artigo, pretendo mostrar que é possível perceber que a influência de Husserl sobre Strauss extrapola a escrita desse pequeno ensaio. Tentarei argumentar que o impacto da primeira escola da fenomenologia alemã sobre o pensamento de Leo Strauss se revela tanto na sua crítica ao positivismo e ao historicismo, quanto na sua proposta de recuperação da filosofia política. Para tanto, será analisado pontos de confluência dos escritos de Strauss sobre o tema com o ensaio Philosophie als strenge Wissenschaft de 1911 de Husserl, no objetivo de mostrar que há na abordagem de Strauss da filosofia política uma influência direta da fenomenologia Husserl.
