The problem of applying ethics from Ricoeur’s perspective

Abstract

The text seeks to understand the construction line of Ricoeurian thought through two perspectives used by this author. The perspectives used by Ricouer are: the teleological tradition linked to Aristotelian thought and the deontological tradition attributed to Kant. It is from this tenuous balance between teleology and deontology that the French philosopher developed the general lines of configuration of his ethical perspective. In this sense, in what follows, we will briefly present some distances and proximities between Ricoeur and Kant. Since the French philosopher chose Kant as a privileged interlocutor when it comes to the problem of applying ethics, and, considering that this is the core theme of this article, we will focus on this relation.
