Abstract

This work aims at providing a comprehensive view of the professional path and significant contributions of Marconi Lima, a designer based in Macapá (AP, Brazil), to the field of type design, highlighting his digital type foundry, TypeFolio (established in 2007), and some of his major typographic creations. The work of Lima, who, in 2014, chose to dedicate himself entirely to type design, seeks to unite technical-formal accuracy, tradition and innovation, as evidenced in his most recent project, the Machado type family, commissioned by the publisher Todavia in 2023 for the re-edition of Machado de Assis's works. In the interview published here, the designer reveals his professional journey and his unique commitment to typography, standing out as one of the few full-time type designers living in the Amazon.
