Abstract

The idea presented in this article, is the author’s effort in order to make a profound study of theoretical-methodological subjects related to teaching Geography in primary schools. Initially, emphasis is given to aspects of social and educational functions of school Geography, its main limitations and challengers. The text also presents and discusses the main conceptual categories that are the study object of geographic science and of Geography training on primary school. Finally, it shows a set of considerations with proposition features related to the organization of the pedagogic work in Geography, in order to contributing for the debate of school approach. All arguments presented in the article advocates for Geography training that offers the students a critic – emancipator education.
