Decoloniality and body-territory as epistemic basis for understanding environmental racism in Brazil

Abstract

This article aims at a theoretical approach to decoloniality as an effective epistemic basis for understanding and advancing the debate on environmental racism in Brazil, since the concept emerged in the American context of the struggle for civil rights for black populations, where impacts were identified. ecological differences between different racial groups. Since, in what they call Latin America, in addition to the internal differences between the groups, there is an external mark centered on the relationship with imperialism, therefore having racism as a structuring element of political, social, cultural and territorial relations. In this way, taking decoloniality to achieve the relevance of the theme, in its current political dimension, having the body-territory as the starting place.
