Approach to case-control and cohort studies in a stricto sensu graduate program: an experiential report

Report the planning and implementation of a seminar as a teaching strategy for approaching case-control and cohort studies. This is an experience report that included the participation of five academics from the Postgraduate Program in Nursing at UNILAB from January to March 2023. In the planning stage, for the development During the activity, meetings were proposed for each planning phase, with three phases being carried out: searching for material relevant to the themes of the study, compiling the material and putting together a script, and discussing/exposing the key points of the types of study. In the implementation stage, the seminar presentation lasted 120 minutes and was discussed using the Microsoft PowerPoint® program, was based on a brief description, origin, objectives, classification, advantages, and disadvantages of each type of study. The experience with the planning and implementation of the seminar achieved positive feedback with participation from listeners, which shed light on the need to expand the discussion on these research methods, awakening interest in their application in health research.
