Capitalist accumulation in agribusiness: from productive investment to deregulated finance

Analyzing the capitalist movements of recent years, it is possible to identify the approximation of the agribusiness sector with the financial market. This fact is not only related to the volume of capital, but also to institutional, political, and lobbying movements, which generated legislation that helped this rentier sectoral approach. Therefore, this study aims to discuss some points of approximation of the agroindustrial production sector, which was already one of the promoters of industrial productive development, in the twentieth century, for a sector closer to the accumulation of speculator rentier financial capital. For this, a literature review was carried out, focusing on works that discussed this situation on several fronts. It is concluded that this fact may be contributing to the reduction of investment in production chains, which affects the level of lasting development, the employment rate and income of the Brazilian population.
