Abstract

This paper has had as objective analyzing the market of distribution of steel to the civil building in the South of Minas Gerais, it is based on the structure-conduct-performance model. It was presented the space distribution of the suppliers of this market, and it was noticed that they follow the dynamics of the mainly cities and road of distribution of the region; they are quite a lot influenced by regions and cities close to other states, like São Paulo. The reason between the indexes CRk calculated, and the index HH, showed a tendency of concentration. Big alterations at the suppliers’ behavior and the coming of companies linked to steel industry have changed the dynamic of the sector, specially regarded to the levels of concentration of the market and to the important economic development of the mesoregion.
