Transmuting the tarot into an artistic poetics: intersemiotic reverberations

The present paper discusses the concept of transmutation, emerging from poetic research in the doctorate, which is intersected by the theme of the major arcana of the Marseille Tarot (cards and texts), utilizing appropriations of images from the internet and the production of digital collage. The term transmutation is found in studies of intersemiotic translation as a creative transit between verbal and visual languages, based on contributions from Jakobson, Plaza, Diniz and Camillotti. This raises the question: how does the concept of transmutation operate in my artistic practice and what are the implications are contained in the process of transmuting the meanings and symbolisms of the Tarot into poetic? In light of this, the objective is to present reflections, alongside visual productions resulting from the artistic process, discussing theoretical approaches and their reverberation in the present research, investigating conceptual proximities and distances.
