Abstract

Six different commercial brands of soft drinks were investigated for their caffeine concentrations with results that vary from a minimum of 68.1 μg for lemon drinks up to a maximum of 40, 30 mg caffeine for cola drinks, in 300 ml bottles.

The spectrophotometric method for caffeine determination in the UV-range (λ = 276,5 nm) shown to be free from interferences, with good precision and reproducibility.
