Abstract

The paper examines the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in intellectual creation and publishing processes, focusing on a case study of the book Ipnocrazia, which aims to provoke critical thinking on AI, culture and society. It investigates whether public perception of the work alters upon the revelation of its attribution to a fictitious creator and the involvement of AI in its creation. Grounded in a theoretical framework that examines the significance of authorship in text interpretation and the ethical implications of AI in intellectual creation, the study employs a qualitative methodological approach, incorporating content, material, and documentary analysis of the book. The results show a shift in the perception and evaluation of the book, which is now regarded less favorably. Although certain observations and discoveries may pertain specifically to this case, they exemplify wider tendencies and challenges in AI-driven literary production, which also encompass the global socio-technological context.
