Abstract

This article aims to analyse three Brazilian papers' front pages (Folha de S. Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo e Jornal do Brasil) in order to point out the social stigmas articulated in their texts and images. It considers journalism as a language construction, news as a cultural form, and journalism's discourses as a narrative.

PhD in Communication Sciences from the School of Communications and Arts at USP, and professor in the Department of Journalism and Publishing at the same School and researcher at the Journalism and Language Studies Center.
