Times of crisis and places of catastrophe

The purpose of this article is to rehearse a reflection on the aporia imposed by the catastrophe. To do this, initially, we present some data from catastrophes to be taken as examples: : the flood in the Taquari Valley (RS) and the drought in the rivers of the Amazon basin (AM). Next, we seek to think about the issue of catastrophe from its temporal index, and to do so, we will resort to two proposals: from Jean-Pierre Dupuy and Alain Brossat. Another alternative, although not exclusive, was attempted: to emphasize the spatiality of the catastrophe, without necessarily losing sight of its temporality, but somehow subordinating it to that of space, the place of the catastrophe, highlighting how the catastrophe can be taken as a biopolitical issue. Finally, relying on this spatio-temporal correlation of the catastrophe, and taking the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 as a basis, some thought is rehearsed that seeks to relocate the relationship between local and global/universal and, thus, subverting the biopolitical logic of its governmentality.
