Abstract

In A theory of justice, John Rawls develops the main concepts of his conception of justice known as “justice as fairness”. We focus on the distributive aspect of this conception. The following essay tries to show the defining characteristics of a society arranged according to the demands of justice of the two Rawlsian principles of justice. To this end, we explore the major aspects of a property-owning democracy and of liberal socialism, the two examples of socioeconomic regimes Rawls considers to be compatible with his conception of justice.
