The purpose of this article is to reinterpret the Project for a scientific psychology of Freud based on the concept of life drive. Therefore, we will follow an interpretation by the psychoanalyst Hans Loewald on the concept of Eros mainly with regard to the cognitive development and the role of the mother in the insertion of the baby in morality and reality in the pre-Oedipal period. The life drive would be conceived also as another possible pleasure principle, in addition to that of constancy. Ultimately, the possibility of an interpretation that outlines the presence of the life drive in the Project linked to the maternal function follows a feminist reading of Freudian psychoanalysis undertaken by Joel Whitebook in his most recent works, also largely based on Loewald’s theory.Downloads
