Abstract

The expansion of solar photovoltaic energy in Brazil plays a central role in the energy transition and the decarbonization of the national electricity matrix. This study analyzed trends in Brazilian scientific output regarding the socio-environmental impacts of this expansion between 2010 and 2025, using a literature review and bibliometric analysis of the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Thirty-seven articles were analyzed using RStudio (Bibliometrix) software. The results show an increase in publications starting in 2017, highlighting discussions related to the electricity matrix, sustainability, environmental licensing, and impacts on the Caatinga biome. The literature analyzed highlights the paradox between global climate benefits and local socio-environmental costs associated with solar extractivism and green sacrifice zones. It is concluded that the sector's sustainability requires greater equity in territorial planning and the incorporation of circular economy principles.
