Abstract

According to Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, Brazil followed a development path that moved away from modernization possibilities. It society should be seen as a Lusitanian variant which, in turn, did not meet the individual assumptions modern ration. Drawing on these assumptions one of the most classic works of Brazilian interpretation appropriates of Michel Foucault’s theories in order to examine the current arguments in Raízes do Brasil, what held long look over this new world in the making . Therefore, new ways for a national understanding would be possible without discarding, however, all contributions present in the now classic that introduced the cordial man.
