Social policy, democracy and development model in Argentina: a new system for welfare?

In 1993, Argentina regained the democratic regime in the context of a severe economic crisis. Democracy consolidated in the 1980´s and early 1990´s, paralell to the adoption of a modelo of economic and social policies neoliberal oriented. In the last ten years Argentina has undergone a process of productive restructuring, recoverying the role of the State in the economic development. In the intervening role of the State. The transition from a neoliberal to a post-neoliberal modelo opens windows of opportunity to rethink the agenda of public policies in different areas. This article analyzes the model of social protection implemented in Argentina, emphasizing not only in their main characteristics and efficiency of their actions, but also in potential complementarities with the productive system.Downloads
