Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar o cenário onde se deu a instituição do fenômeno produtivo/comercial denominado Feira da Sulanca. Tal fenômeno emergiu durante o êxodo rural dos anos 1950, quando foi desenhada a divisão nacional do trabalho, tendo como exército industrial de reserva os imigrantes nordestinos. Alguns trabalhadores de procedência da região de Santa Cruz do Capibaribe encontraram no comércio de retalhos das fábricas do Brás uma estratégia para garantir sua reprodução social. Essas estratégias evoluíram em arranjos diferenciados resultando atualmente no Polo de confecções do Agreste de Pernambuco.
