Abstract

Objective: To perform a macroscopic in vivo analysis of the healing effect of Copaifera langsdorffii oleoresin on diabetic wounds. Method: This is an experimental study using male Wistar rats weighing between 200 and 300 g. The animals were anesthetized and subjected to experimental diabetes induction, followed by wound creation. Daily treatment was then administered with either saline solution (SS), mineral oil (MO), crude oleoresin (CO), or 10% Copaifera langsdorffii oleoresin (CO 10%) in designated groups for 1, 7, and 14 days. Subsequently, macroscopic analysis was performed. This research was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee (CEUA/URCA) under approval number 000356/2019.2. Results: The analysis showed that both CO and CO 10% prevented scab formation in 60% of the treated cases, and CO 10% was more effective in preventing bleeding compared to the crude formulation. Conclusion: The 10% oleoresin formulation (CO 10%) demonstrated a potentially promising effect on essential wound-healing activities impaired by diabetes mellitus, promoting a more favorable environment for epithelialization.
