Rural tourism as a vector of locar development: the experience of São Martinho/SC

Rural tourism is set up as one of the non-agricultural activities that grow more in the Brazilian rural environment, representing an impetus for local development, having important participation in the generation of employment and income. This article presents a brief contextualization of tourism as a non-agricultural activity, addresses some aspects of supply and demand and presents the experience of the local development of rural tourism in the municipality of São Martinho. Located in the south of the state of Santa Catarina, St. Martin was stagnated, having its economy based on agriculture.
