Focus and Scope
Focus, Scope, Mission and Target Audience
The Journal Cadernos de Comunicação associated with the Post-Graduation Program in Communication (POSCOM) from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), aims at publishing researches on the area of Communication and other related areas, those being from the theoretical as well as empirical perspective. It is destined for developing researchers and graduates, from two defined sections.
Types of texts to be published:
1) Free Articles - preferably, with a Doctor as an author:
2) Themed Dossiers - preferably, with a Doctor as an author:
Only unprecedented texts are accepted, these which will be evaluated through a double-blind review system, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
Works that were already presented at a scientific event and, later on, went through brief or substantial modifications will also be accepted. It is essential, in this case, that the event is referenced in the paper.
Languages accepted for publication: Portuguese, English and/or Spanish.
Acess Policy: The Journal adopts manifests which defend the free acess to scientific information, in a local and international scope.
Periodicity: Cadernos de Comunicação, which had its creation in 1996, adopts a continuous flow of publishing contributions.

Evaluation Process by Pairs
Evaluation / Editorial Policy:
The Cadernos de Comunicação Journal Evaluation Policy includes the following steps:
- a) pre-analysis: verification of the guidelines presented to the authors - before any content evaluation;
- b) text referral for two ad hoc consultants - bliend review system. In the event of disagreement, a third evaluator will analyze the text. This step consists of three possible alternatives: 1) approved; b) approved with restrictions; c) disapproved. In all situations a message will be sent to the authors through the Journal system;
- c) the approved texts are organized by the Editor, and an estimated day for publication preview is given to the authors.
Periodicity
The Journal publishes once every four months (january-april; may-august; september-december), and it receives submissions in a continuous flow.
The deadlines of receiving and approving the archives will be in accordance with your publication.

This Journal folllows a total free acess principle of its contents.

Journal History
The first publication is dated to 1996, under the responsability of the editors Prof. Dr. Gaspar Miotto, Prof. Dr. Adair Caetano Peruzzolo and Profa. Dr. Eugênia Maria Mariano da Rocha Barrichello.
The Journal remained inactive from 2006 to 2010, returning in 2011 with the publication of its 14th edition, both in a printed and online format, under the management of the Editor Prof. Dr. Flavi Lisboa Ferreira Filho. The management of the professor was essential for the consolidation of the Journal.
In 2012, the Journal received the e-ISSN number for its digital version, and the Digital Object Identifier - DOI to attach the articles. Furthermore, it also obtained the approval for the indexation at Latindex, Sumário.org, Diadorim, Portcom and DOAJ.
Prof. Dr. Cristina Marques Gomes, who acted as the manager-editor since 2015, took over the place of chief-editor in 2018, and occupies the same place up to the current moment.
