Abstract

Through his Physio-psychology, ie the morphology and doctrine of development of the will to power, Nietzsche evaluates the condition of the drives of individuals and cultures. Thus, products that affirm life as a continuous movement of self-overcoming are symptoms of a healthy dynamic; organisms that use conservation strategies such as metaphysics and seek to stop change are morbid. In this theoretical context, this article aims to investigate Nietzsche's reaction to a major earthquake in Nice in 1887, event experienced by the philosopher himself. Nietzsche believes he has the great health, which enables him to reject the search for eternal values in transcendent instances, a search imposed by a catastrophe on the majority of human beings.

Doutor em Filosofia pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Professor Associado de Filosofia da Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE) (graduação e pós-graduação) e Professor do Mestrado em Filosofia da Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM). Coordena o Grupo de Estudos Nietzsche (GEN) e é membro do Grupo Internacional HyperNietzsche.
