Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between the adoption of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices and the profitability of cooperatives in Paraná, considering variations by sector, region, and foundation time. Through quantitative analysis based on data from the ESG+Coop program, the results indicate that ESG practices exert a moderate positive influence on profitability, particularly in the agricultural sector. Older cooperatives showed greater ESG maturity, suggesting the importance of organizational learning over time. The regional analysis also revealed significant differences, with cooperatives in regions with higher institutional maturity demonstrating more robust ESG practices. Integrating ESG into cooperative strategies can represent a long-term competitive advantage, reinforcing the need for a strategic approach tailored to the specific context of each organization.
