The aim of this study is to describe the conceptions of the literature on the spirituality inserted in the terminality and to discuss the role of the nurse in this context. Bibliographical research of the type integrative review of literature with survey in the virtual bases Lilacs, Medline, PubMed, and Scielo in the period from October to December of 2022, with published texts. The articles have been read and the information tabulated and interpreted. 15 articles were obtained, published between 2013 and 2022, revealing two thematic categories: Spirituality in the terminality of life and Care in the spiritual dimension and its implications for practice. In the face of the nearness of death, spiritual needs are expressed through the search for meaning, reconciliation with life, transcendence and hope. Incorporating the spiritual dimension in the approach to patients submitted to this modality of attention is fundamental so that their needs are met. Spirituality is part of the principles of palliative care, helping terminally ill patients to die in peace and dignity. However, attending to this dimension is still a challenge because of the nurse's lack of preparation to deal with such issues, and it is necessary to discuss this issue with greater professional training.
