EFFECTIVENESS OF THERAPEUTIC TOUCH IN RELIEVING OF SYMPTOMATOLOGY PATIENT

The present study aimed to verify in scientific literature the effectiveness of Therapeutic Touch in relieving of symptomatology reported by the patient. This is an narrative review, developed between January and August 2013. A search of the literature was conducted on the databases SciELO, BDENF, LILACS and MEDLINE, using the following descriptors: Therapeutic Touch, Complementary Therapies and Nursing. The sample consisted of 17 articles, published between 2006 and 2012, fully availables in Portuguese and English languages in the databases consulted. There was observed a higher number of experimental studies and randomized clinical trials, in indexed journals in skilled nursing. The results evidenced efficacy of this therapeutic modality in the reduction of symptomatology such as chronic pain and postoperative, anxiety, fatigue, sleep disorders and stress. The conclusion is that Therapeutic Touch is a valid treatment in relieving symptoms and psychophysiological a strategy of treatment for complaining that care.
