This review sought to present the book entitled O mercado da arte (The art market) by the sociologist Raymonde Moulin, with the principal objective reflecting upon the analysis of the constituent processes of the current visual art market. As such, the book concerned itself with two distinct markets. The classified art market, which refers to works of art authorized as historic heritage of memory and culture, by a network of art institutions and the contemporary art market, which is favored in the book, referring to the works of art that are still in the full process swing of legitimation by the same institutional network.Downloads
